Hair-restoration menus can make very different procedures sound similar. PurBliss offers FoLix laser and PRP scalp appointments. A useful comparison starts with whether the cause of thinning is understood, then looks at the method, evidence, suitability, course and follow-up.
Understand the change before treating it
Record when thinning began, whether it is gradual or sudden, whether it is diffuse or patchy and whether there are scalp symptoms. Bring information about illnesses, medicines and prior treatment that may be relevant.
The AAD emphasizes diagnosis before choosing hair-loss care. A medical evaluation can identify issues that need a different treatment. A cosmetic procedure should not be used as a substitute for investigating unexplained hair changes.
The methods are different
PRP involves collecting and preparing a portion of your blood for scalp injections. FoLix uses a provider-operated fractional laser. It is distinct from low-level light caps and combs, according to Lumenis.
Ask the provider to explain the exact procedure, comfort measures and possible effects for your situation. Terms such as ‘natural’ or ‘advanced’ do not identify the method or prove that you are a suitable candidate.
Compare evidence with appropriate limits
Ask what evidence supports the proposed use for your pattern of thinning and how it applies to your skin and scalp. Improvement in scalp-hair appearance is a different claim from guaranteeing a restored hairline.
Manufacturer information is useful for device mechanism and precautions, but it should be read alongside an individual clinical assessment. A before-and-after example represents one response and does not predict yours.
Plan the course and review
The live PurBliss menu reviewed October 10, 2026 lists PRP hair restoration at $550 and FoLix at $800 for one visit, with FoLix packages also available. A package is not a diagnosis or an individualized visit recommendation.
Ask how long the proposed course runs, when response should be judged and what maintenance may follow. Confirm how a review would change the plan if there is little benefit or an unexpected reaction.
- Why is this procedure relevant to my pattern?
- What is the expected review window?
- How will change be documented?
- What is the complete proposed course and maintenance cost?
Coordinate other scalp care
Bring a list of treatments and products you already use. Ask whether medical treatment needs to continue and how the proposed procedure fits with it.
Do not assume two available therapies should automatically be combined. Lumenis notes an evidence limitation for FoLix with topicals for scalp-hair improvement. Any combination deserves its own rationale, instructions and risk discussion.
Questions & answers
Can I choose between PRP and FoLix from price alone?
Price is only one part of the decision. Cause of thinning, suitability, method, evidence, visits and follow-up should be clear first.
Can I expect every hair-loss pattern to respond?
No. Different causes require different approaches and individual response varies.
What photographs are useful for progress?
Ask the provider for a consistent scalp-photo method. Matching angle, lighting and hair styling helps make review more meaningful.
What would make a progress-review date meaningful in a hair-restoration proposal?
Ask what will be compared at that point, how the baseline will be documented and what would prompt revising the plan. A review date is more useful when the provider explains the intended assessment rather than only the next payment or appointment.
Should a hair-restoration consultation include the treatments I already use at home?
Yes. Bring a list of scalp products, medicines and previous procedures so the provider can discuss the proposed plan in context. Do not independently stop a prescribed treatment to prepare for a cosmetic appointment; ask the prescribing clinician and treating provider for coordinated instructions.
